The College of Science and Engineering
The College of Science and Engineering was founded when National Kinmen Institute of Technology was upgraded to National Quemoy University in 2010. The College consists of four departments and six master’s degree programs: The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Management, the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, the Department of Food Science, the Master’s Degree Program in Civil Engineering and Engineering Management, the Master’s Degree Program in Electronic Engineering, the Master’s Degree Program in Food Science, the In-Service Master’s Degree Program in Engineering Technology, the Master’s Degree Program in Intelligent Computing and Application, and the Master’s Degree Program in Information Technology and Applications .
We expect our students to have both the professional knowledge in engineering and the abilities to develop innovative science and engineering technologies. The College covers a wide range of research fields, including resource utilization of island biogeography, sustainable engineering of ecology and environment, green technologies and applications, and application of geographic information. We encourage our students to stay in Kinmen and improve the local economic development.
Colleges and departements include:
• College of Science and Engineering
• Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering
• Department of Electronic Engineering
• Department of Food Science
• Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Management
• In-Service Master’s Degree Program in Engineering Technology
• Master’s Degree Program in Information Technology and Applications
• Master’s Degree Program in Intelligent Computing and Application
In-Service Master’s Degree Program in Engineering Technology
The In-Service Master’s Degree Program in Engineering Technology offers two unique modules: The Module of Local-Need Prioritization and the Module of Innovative Technologies. The major research area of the master’s degree program focuses on the technological development of Kinmen and the training of local leaders. The vision of the program is to “Think Global, Act Local”, for globalization is an unstoppable force in local developments. Therefore, our students are required to select courses such as “Intelligenttechnology”, “Creative Food Science” and “Islandology”. These courses help students to integrate their abilities with other professions. With the specified courses, we expect this program to be one of the global pioneers when it comes to island studies.
The Module of Local-Need Prioritization focuses on intelligenttechnology, creative food technologies, and island studies. The rigorous training allows our students to be local leaders with extraordinary perspectives on local developments.
The Module of Innovative Technologies includes courses such as Computer Networks, Multimedia and Game Design, Smart Computing, Robotics, Geo-informatics, and Green Energy. The introduction of smart technologies improves the local life quality. Therefore, we aim to establish a smart tech research center and design technologies that adapt to the unique needs of the island residents.
